  • Hi ALL , NOT BEEN ON FOR A FEW WEEKS , GOT SOME NEWS AFTER MY BIOPSY 11 DAYS AGO , WENT TO SEE MY ONCOLOGIST LAST WEEK AND YESTERDAY , THEY THOUGHT IT WAS BOG STANDARD KIDNEY CANCER , BUT MY ONCOLOGIST YESTERDAY REFERRED ME TO A ADRENAL SPECIALIST WHOM I SEEN TODAY , BETTER NEWS THAN I EXPECTED,  I HAVE A VERY RARE TUMOUR WHICH IS CALLED A Phaeochromocytoma , ITS VERY SLOW GROWING AND HE THINKS IT COULD HAVE STARTED BETWEEN 5-10 YEARS AGO , I'M GETTING REFERRED TO A SURGEON WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF GETTING IT REMOVED (HOPEFULLY) NOT THE GREATEST SCENARIO,  ITS NOT CURABLE,  BUT AVERAGE LIFE EXPECTANCY IS 5 YEARS + COMPARED WITH THE 2 YEARS I WAS TOLD WITH THE KIDNEY , ANYBODY EVER HEARD OF IT , EVEN MY ONCOLOGIST  HAD HARDLY HEARD Muscle IT , I'VE EVEN GOT TO HAVE A NUCLEAR SCAN , ANYBODY HAD ONE OF THOSE BEFORE , THE CANCER IS FOUND IN BETWEEN 2-8 PEOPLE IN A MILLON , HOPE YOUR ALL FIGHTING AWAY AND KEEPING STRONG Muscle

  • Well! Well done on the "Phaeochromocytoma" mention.  Never heard of it!  Sounds positive and a move in the right direction.  I would take the average life expectancy values with a punch of salt though because they are not personal to you and how your body is going to cope with the situation and treatment.

It's my "One Year On" day today!  Feeling nostalgic!   Smiley

  • Well done on your one anniversary,  keep it going , I feel , well just normal , bloody sore back though,  I was more delighted when they said I may be suitable for surgery to remove the bugger , it wouldn't prolong the average life expectancy,  but would get me back a semi normal life ( back to work and golf ) my missus has perked up  a lot ,more than me , got a lot more scans and bloods to go , but I'm staying positive,  they where right about it being rare,  I searched on it here and it came up with only 8 hits , everybody stay strong and keep their  good fight up .
