Hello I'm new here. I'm seeing my consultant next week and wondered what questions I should ask. They have found a 12 cm mass on my right kidney with ultrasound and I've had a CT scan but no results yet. I've been told it's probably renal cell carcinoma. I need to take any questions in with me but I have so many. Do you think they will tell me the CT results then too? Thank you.
Hi there I have been diagnosed with kidney cancer 4 weeks ago and have my operation on Monday. Have you had a ct scan with the dye yet? They wont tell you the results there and then as they have to have a multi team meeting to discuss treatment etc if it is rcc. Then you will get an appointment with the consultant and he will let you know what it is and what will happen. I wish you all my very best wishes be strong and positive
Yes, I would expect you to get CT results when you see your consultant as well as treatment options, whether it's spread and next steps. I wouldn't worry about having lots of questions, that's to be expected. I'd take a pen and paper so you can take notes or some people like to take someone with them. Or my Urologist suggested I record the chat on my phone because he was going to give me so much info.
Hi Kirad. Its understandable your head is spinning a bit and you have a lot of questions in your head. But I am sure the consultant will give you all the immediately important relevant info on the day anyway. Although it was a shatteringly worrying time for me I tried not to overthink it. This is a field really best left to experts. !! Anyway welcome to the forum and I hope things go as well as they can for you. Best wishes.
thank you so much. I am sure you will get the results and what the next stage is going to be. I have been extremeley lucky with diagnosis and how quick Im having the op I cannot praise the hospital enough. I had no symptoms and had gone in for a ct scan on my chest for my asthma when tony the tumour got picked up! Im feeling storng and positive and sending those feelings to you too x
Wow, so glad they picked it up on the scan! I just got a cancelled appointment and it's now the week after next! Another week of waiting . Will just be glad to get it over with! So glad you're feeling good and positive, I'm sure I will when I finally find out what's up x
