Hi posting here after having kidney cancer diagnosed following kidney removed. Told chemotherapy won’t have any affect after and have to have regular blood tests and scans. Waiting to get results is so stressful.

  • Post nephrectomy we are all in the same boat. Wait and see. Best wishes.

  • Hi MG123

Waiting is stressful - I think we all feel the same. I am 4 weeks post op and find my anxiety levels rising as I know (hope) I'll get my follow up appointment soon and then find out what it was and what follow up is needed.

My understanding of kidney cancer is that there is no additional treatment (chemo or radiotherapy) after surgery. Once the tumour is removed, that is that!

What frequency will your scans be?

    Take care

  • Hi there my husband is having his kidney removed in 3 weeks time anxiety through the roof as he has heart condition too they have Said that the operation is risky but safe at the same time we have not been given much information or advice or any thing regarding this diagnosis he got the anesthetic person ringing him next Friday to go through every thing but we don't know much else other than the operation is on the 24 th march and that he will be in for minimum of 3 days I don't drive either and the hospital is about 20 kins away

  • Hi, as long as you make them aware of everything you are worrying about before hand. They will be fine. I found I saw a nurse, aneathatist and oncology nurse on my preop assessment. Southmead hospital Bristol was very thorough and professional. We are 1 hour away and were offered transport. Just ask. Take care. Hope you feel reassured. Lxx
