Hi everyone! I’ve just been diagnosed with a tumour on my left kidney. Robotic surgery has been arranged for 31st October. I originally went to the doctors with constipation some stomach pain and blood in my poo . 2 years ago in covid I had a massive ovarian cyst so had to have a laparotomy and removal of cyst and full hysterectomy ovaries and omentum. It turned out to be borderline and I have since made a full recovery. So when my Ct scan showed lesions on my kidney I was shocked to say the least. So once again I am preparing to go through surgery. This time it will be robotic unless I have too much scarring when they go in and then that will change how they need to operate. I got lost of help off the forum for my last op and have looked at some of the comments already on here to get hints and tips. It’s a hard time for us all and it’s always helpful to know you are not alone. Staying positive and looking forward to my cruise booked for February around the Far East a treat for my 60th birthday
Hello, It seems as though you have already been through a lot, so it must have been a shock…….well done for focussing on your cruise, it sounds lovely I am going to be 60 next year too, but don’t know how to celebrate as yet…..am building up a list of 60 things I would like to achieve/ do in my 60th year ……most won’t be very big things…
I keep wondering where all of the time has gone ….but one thing we all know on here is that we need to make the most of every day x
Big hugs,
Jules xx
Thank you for your reply. I have read your about you and it’s good to know that I’m not alone. I have my op on 31st October and I’m hoping it all goes well. I had a laparotomy last time so I have a massive scar from pubic to just past belly button. This time it’s going to be robotic laparoscopy so I’ll have more marks on my belly I’ve had 3 kids and no stretch marks but now my belly will look li the map of England .hope you are well on still on the right track 60 is a milestone birthday and with all we have been through we need to celebrate I take each day as it comes and I’m thankful that my diagnosis isn’t bad as it could have been. Keep in touch
It is amazing how neat and inconspicuous surgical scars are these days. 50 years ago scars that size could be really gross but not now. They do not all go to the belly button. Some are just on the side/back. It depends.
Thanks Simon I know the scars won’t be too bad. I was referring to my laparotomy I had for ovarian cancer in 2020 I know the scars from this surgery will be smaller. I don’t really care about the scars they are a sign of life and survival. I’ve read your story and seems like I have the same sort as you I’m having surgery 31st October and it was nice to read all about yours and your recovery. Hope you are feeling well and everything is going well for you
Well thanks for your interest. It was such a relief to get rid of mine but now I feel a bit of a fraud. Nothing like the suffering of many people here sadly have to endure. Not yet anyway.
