Went to A&E with suspected appendicitis….found 8cm mass on left kidney. Initial scans saying not spread to lungs. Waiting on next steps. 36 hrs since diagnosis and still trying to get me head round it.

  • Hi Lisa,

sorry that you have had to join our group, but sure that you will find friendship and support from others who understand some of what you are going through.

It is an absolute shock when they first find a mass and waiting for results and a treatment plan is the most difficult time….but when you find out what is happening you do start to feel a bit more as though the situation is starting to come under some kind of control.

Its really good that initial scans indicate no spread, but there are new treatments being pioneered all of the time, so as easy as it is to say it….try not to go down the rabbit holes of ‘what if’. This is the best pierce of advice that I was given and I now wait until I know something concrete.

Do post what is happening with you and how you are feeling and we will offer out support to you.

Sending you a massive hug, Jules x

  • Hi Lisa,

    Great reply from Jules there.

Yes, we can all relate to the shock of diagnosis. Kidney cancer can go so long without showing symptoms and is so often, as is with you, discovered accidentally.

Things will settle down for you I'm sure. Be sure if you're struggling to reach out. Many here will help with words and sharing their experience with you. When i was first diagnised i read a lot of posts on here and found myself in awe of so many people that had been through so much. It helped me get my emotions about my situation better organised too.

    Ta for now...Del.
