Hi my name is Gill but my member name is “walksalone” I am very interested in the ancient North American Indians which is where this name comes from! My story is like many I had a few symptoms abdominal pain loss of appetite fatigue which led to me having scans which to my horror showed up a 4cm tumour on right kidney! Surgery followed to remove whole kidney and grade 3 cancerous tumour. The results showed no spread which was a welcome relief. So here I am 8 weeks on from surgery recovering quite well but still have some pain and discomfort and strong sudden pins and needles and bloated tummy  plus tiredness. Does anyone else have these problems. ???

  • Hi Gill/walksalone or should i say 'How'.

I have no advice to give regarding your difficulties but i am about to have my right kidney removed in 10 days time. 9cm tumour on right kidney with no symptoms at all.

I do quite a physical job and have been advised that i will need at least 6 weeks off. So it's interesting/worrying to hear you say that after 8 weeks you still have pain and discomfort along with other problems.

I hope someone more experienced at having kidneys out comes along for you soon and can maybe offer some some advice or help.

    Keep going.Del

  • Thank you for responding to my message Del. Please don’t worry about the recovery time after kidney surgery although it does seem to be taking me a while I do have a friend whose husband was back to full normal activity including driving after 6 weeks. I think it also depends on fitness and age! So I really hope you fall into that category and have a speedy recovery after your op! Sending best wishes to you kindest regards Walksalone
