Hi I had a CT in December 2021 and discovered I had a tumour in my ureter but very close to the kidney. Mine is a type of bladder cancer.  I had a biopsy under anaesthetic in January and on 11.3.22 I had my right kidney, the ureter and a tiny part of my bladder removed due to the type of cancer. 
I found out yesterday that they got all the cancer. 
The first two weeks after surgery were very painful but the last four days I am feeling much better and the pain has reduced.

I understand the level of shock you are experiencing, I don’t think mine has worn off yet. It has been a whirlwind.

I had a similar diagnosis to your wife and had my kidney and ureter removed in January.

I'm not going to lie, but the first week post op was tough.I had to rely on my husband a lot.

I was expecting to have follow up treatment, but all the cancer was removed.

3 months on I am driving, back at work but still very fatigued by the end of the day.

It is hard, but this group is wonderful for advice, support and sounding off.
