I’m new to this - my dad has been diagnosed with kidney cancer in one kidney and on Monday he is having it removed- he also has prostrate cancer so has had a full body scan to make sure it’s not spread anywhere else. He’s having hormone treatment for the prostrate. He is so anxious about his operation and so am I. I think he’s thinking he won’t come round after the operation and as much as I’m trying to be positive I can’t help feeling like this too.
i don’t know what to say to him.
Hi Amanda
So sorry that your Dad is going through prostrate cancer and now has to have a kidney removed because of cancer.
I had mine removed a short time ago because of a cancerous tumour and now recovering well. The thought of the operation was frightening and I became very anxious about it and I think we all think the worst. I presume like me your Dad will be having key hole surgery (Nephrectomy).
I do hope that everything goes well for him and though he will feel sore and very tired for several days I hope that he will slowly feel a lot better.
Take care
Betty
