Hi, I am new. Only had diagnosis a couple of weeks ago. Had a second scan, just waiting for result, has it spread? Hate the waiting.
Hi Aprilrain1 and welcome to the Online Community. I just dropped in and noticed you've not yet had an answer from the other members as yet. I myself have a different type of cancer but there is one thing upon we can all agree is the waiting is awful, whether it's for a scan date, then the results, then the consultation - the list is endless but somehow we get through it. The fear of the unknown is demoralising but as soon as the tests are finished and your treatment plan is in place the time just flies by!
It’s always helpful to others if you write a little something (or a lot) about yourself and your journey to date. You can enter it into your profile (click on your username and select “Profile”) It’s helpful to other members with a similar diagnosis who can then hopefully answer your questions. It also means that you don't have to keep writing the same thing over and over. You can amend or update it at any time.
To find more information covering diagnosis and treatments there are pages covering most types of cancers which can be found on our Online Information and Support Section.
Macmillan Support Services also offer lots of information, support, financial guidance or just someone to listen. It’s free to call 0808 808 0000. Hi , my partner has kidney cancer that has spread. The waiting is awful. My only advice is to make the most of every day, if you stress too much if will make you feel worse.
Once the results are in you are given the diagnosis, : we were told we could have an operation, it didn't happen. But he had chemotherapy and the first week was awful, he had indigestion, felt sick, and ill bug after that he was fine!! We went out, walks, food, drinks etc..He was amazing, a fighing attitude helped, I had to help him think that way.
Once you know what treatment you are having you will be given numbers for emergencies, etc. Also if you have questions, whatever they are , ask ! I called the consultant secretary daily at one point !!
Good luck.
