Hi I'm Mark I'm 40 years old and had the call from GP confirming my scan results and unfortunately I have today found out I have kidney Cancer.although a shock and confused I'm also glad that at least I know what is wrong and why I have been having pain.he said I should hopefully see someone within a few weeks and hopefully not to much longer after that for surgery to take a part of the kidney or the whole thing away. I have a appointment with the urologist tomorrow by phone this was pre organised before I received my results. Does anyone know how long it takes to recover from this as I have a holiday booked for September 18th and that may be in doubt now. Also what to expect surgery wise and recovery wise thanks in advance
Hi Zante1, my mum is currently waiting to get her appointment to get her whole kidney removed. We have not been told much information yet as we find out about this next Friday! From reading other peoples comments on here some people have been up and about within around 2-3 weeks but im not 100% sure.
If you dont get to ask the doctors this question before us, i will be sure to ask this in my mums appointment and let you know what they say roughly for her :)
Hi Unknowtash, I hope your mum gets well soon after the operation.thanks for the info and let me know how it all goes
Hi Zanta1,
I am not sure if anyone will be able to answer your question about recovery, everyone heals and recovers at different times, I had my left kidney and spleen removed in 2019 I went in on the Monday morning and was out on the Friday evening to recover at home, I was given pain medication and penicillin because of the spleen, the worse part for me was the injections I had to put into my lower groin for four weeks every evening, but I was up and walking after the third day after I was out of ICU on a normal ward only to wash and use the toilet in hospital, not sure if this is if any help to you
