Trying to find somewhere to get counseling, I tried through the NHS, I was told I’d have to wait 6 weeks. I waited six weeks and received a phone call, I was immediately told that this was just an assessment phone call and that an actual counseling session wouldn’t happen for at least another 16 weeks. As I’ve had what amounts to a terminal diagnosis I would have thought there was a quicker way of receiving help.
apologies if I’ve asked this before, my memory isn’t what it once was.
Hi Tomcat
I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble in accessing the counselling that you need.
I did the Online HOPE programme with Macmillan and it may be something that would be worth looking at while you wait. It is free, all online and you can dip in and out of it. I found it helpful.

Finally it may be an idea to give the Macmillan Support Line a call and they can search in your local area to say what support is available to you. They are there from 8am-8pm daily. They are also there if it would help just to talk things through while you are waiting for the counselling to start.
