No , I have only just been diagnosed and have not had kidney taken out yet . What was your diagnosis at the start ? . I’m sure they are on the case and it’s great that they are doing the surgery .

Sorry to hear that.  I was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma.  

Ye I guess when you were diagnosed that there was no spread and the tumour was confined to the kidney so adrenal gland was clear at that stage. 

This is something I will be wondering about going forward as they have left my adrenal gland in place after nephrectomy.

Yes it was 

I asked that question and was told they would only remove it at the same time if it was necessary.

My kidney cancer had spread to both my adrenal glands when it was found. It had also spread to other places too, so surgery was out of the question. You have two adrenal glands, so having one removed should not affect your hormone production too much. I take hydrocortisone daily, to provide the replacement hormone. 

I'm sure your surgeon will discuss this with you before your operation, and have a treatment plan for you.
