Just by chance I came across a really interesting interview with Dolph Lundgren talking about his kidney cancer which had been diagnosed in 2015. He’s just undergone surgery to remove some tumours from his liver. It’s worth looking at as it’s interesting to see that even with the best money can buy, it’s not easy. It’s on you tube if you’re interested.
Hello ChasM, I don’t believe that we have met before……..but I just wanted to say that as had a nephrectomy a year ago….mine went well and wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. The waiting is the worst part. I remember being given my date and then as it came close getting nervous even though I had been counting down the days. On the day of my op I was extremely calm and just wanted it out……… I just said to myself ‘ the chuffing things needs to come out and I will be asleep!’
Hope that this helps
Jules x
Hello again x glad it helped a bit . It takes a lot of getting your ahead around and it's honestly better once you have a plan.Due to the covid backlog it was months after my biopsy that I was told it was cancer and strangely in the end it was better than being in limbo.
I only told you how well mine went just to ensure that you know it was okay for me and I have come through the other side. It does take courage and some planning. What I mean by that is if panning some nice things which will help your mindset feel a bit more positive. My husband at first said ' but what if you aren't well enough' to which I said well then we can cancel ......... I just didn't want to put my life on hold.
This of course needs to be balanced against taking the time and mind space to think about, acknowledge and accept the diagnosis.... in my case I could do this and it helped.
I am doing okay thank you ..... I had some good news with my scan results which I am about to post about.
It's not always easy and I think it changes us forever.... but often in a good way too. It helps you make the most of life.
Do keep posting so we can all support you through the harder times x
Thanks again,I’m glad you’ve had some good news. Obviously the operation is just the beginning of the journey. I know there’s still a slim chance that I won’t have cancer but in my heart of hearts I‘ve more or less accepted that it will be. It’s good to know that there are people who understand what a life changing thing this is.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
