I have advanced kidney cancer which has spread to my hip. I've had radiotherapy on the hip tumour which has reduced it's size and relieved some of the pain.
I've also had 3 sessions of immunotherapy with a combination of Ipilimumab and Nivolumab which were generally OK except I had a period of severe diarrhoea due to colitis. I'm now down to treatment with just the Nivolumab but there is some concern that my liver might be affected by the treatment. Due to see the consultant next week and hopefully we'll be able to get things back under control again.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation?
Hi Polly,
I am so sorry you are having problems with your immunotherapy, I did have terrible diarrhoea when I came out of hospital after having low sodium, I could not start my new treatment for over two months I am not sure if I picked up a bug or if it was due to my immunotherapy, but I know it is such a worry when you are feeling down anyway try to stay positive and ask your oncologist for any help that you need, there might be someone on the site on the same treatment as you and be able to tell you more. Sending hugs and best wishes to you Sandy
Hi I’m on the same treatment as you, I was fine for the first 5 months then had diarrhoea came off the tablets for two weeks which seemed to have sorted it out, went back on the tablets for a week and found my liver function had gone up to 110, so had didn’t have the infusion that day and had a blood test a week later to find that it had gone down to 28, so back on tablets for a week anothet blood test showed that it had gone up slightly but ok to have my infusion again, will find out next Thursday how my liver function is, but it has always been up and down since I started the treatment, I do have lesions on my liver but has reduced by 50% since starting treatment.
I hope it all goes ok next week for you xx
