Has anyone been poorly during immunotherapy treatment

  • Hi Chester fc, l posed a similar question last week and got a kind but limited response. I am being offered immunotherapy in May and l'm trying to get some online info. Let's hope a double question wi help. Keep the flag flying. Adrian

  • I've had few sessions  been been poorly twice on the last  2 weeks now on antibiotics  for bad chest infection honestly thought it was the end really scared me  had to cancell treatment for this coming Friday docs said sometimes in can actually weaken your immune system so.if u get a bit makes it lot worse hoping its just a coincidence. I've been unlucky and just picked up these bugs

  • Hi Chester, so sorry to hear you’ve not been well. Not sure what treatment you are on, however my husband is on the Ipi/Nivo combination immunotherapy.  We are just a couple of treatments in, but other than mild fatigue and hives, no other reaction so far.Fingers crossedThe treatment does lower your immunity so we are taking care to reduce exposure. Hope you feel better soon and can carry on your treatment.

  • I've had to put treatment off again.had severe chest infection actually thought on Thursday that my body had give up.me heart was beating so fast couldn't control breathing mass production of phlem since but has eased its either the treatment or I've just been very unlucky never felt so scared  but still here and wishing everyone good luck x

  • Hi Chester fc , My hubby was on immunotherapy 18 months ago , ipilumamab and nivolumab seemed ok to start with,  but then it caused problems with his bowels , severe diarrhoea which landed him in hospital he was put on steroids and antibiotics which helped for a while then quite bad nausea which again meds were available and helped him for a while,  then he got pneumonia as it weakened his immune system so it was decided it wasn't doing him any good ( although it did slightly shrink one of his tumours) that being said there was quite a lot of people getting really positive responses to the therapy,  I truely hope this treatment works for you,

  • Hi Julie, as l asked a question regarding immunotherapy, may l thank you for your resposne. I wish your husband and you well.

There does seem to be a lot of positive responses to immunotherapy treatment as well as some pretty awful ones, like your husband.

I must admit it is a bit of a no brsiner for me and if offered l'll give it a go and hope for the best.

Anyway l am sitting in a static carsvan on the Suffolk Coast, it's 0600  cold heaving with rain, blowing a gale and my super working retriever dog wants to go for a walk, what do you think l should ? RoflRoflRofl Thanks Julie

  • I'm at the other extreme so I am not sure how useful replies from folk like me are.  On ipi/nivo.  I'm my oncologist's  star patient (best responder).  I can understand it if people want to punch me.

  • Hi suffolkflyer, You are absolutely right its a no brainer grab whatever treatment is offered and I wish you well , as for going for a walk in the cold heaving rain and wind go for it blow the cobwebs away (wrap up well ) thats 2 against one ( me and dog ) Dog2.

    Take care

  • Mmum That is fantastic news that you are responding to treatment, I truly hope you are your oncologists star pupil for a very long time , I so wish you well sending you a massive congratulatory hug

  • Hi Mmum, brilliant, l am really happy for you and your family, no punching just pats on the back, lots of them. Best news. Best wishes and love. Adrian
