Hello all
I've recently been diagnosed with a 37mm lesion on my kidney which was picked up on a MRI scan I had done for recent issues with my Crohns disease - 30 yrs and counting. I had CT scan last week and the consultant has said its graded Bosniack 3 but thankfully its not spread anywhere else. I've been referred for a robotic assisted partial removal, does anyone know what the typical waiting times are for this procedure, apparently it will be done at New Cross Hospital in the West Midlands.
The last 3 weeks have been terrible, all sorts of thoughts going through my head but if having Crohns for 30 years has taught me anything, its that you have to try and push them to one side and get on with life.
Stay strong everyone
Hi Cyclist
Sorry to read your news but good that it's been caught before it's spread. I think it's fair to say that there are mixed experiences here in waiting for a nephrectomy eg this experience with waiting in limbo and postponements https://community.macmillan.org.uk/cancer_types/kidney-cancer-forum/f/new-here-say-hello/232363/still-waiting and others I've seen which have been reasonable.
Totally agree on the waiting for appointments, next steps etc. We all develop techniques for this.
What biking do you do then? I have a road bike, a hybrid for the shopping run and a Brompton for the bike-train-bike commute when the office was a Thing. Generally just cycle on holiday now.
Hi Mmum
Thanks for the reply, I road cycle with a local cycling club and solo and I am an avid participant on Zwift. Once I had gotten over the shock of the diagnosis, I was frustrated that my hard earned winter training gains will now be lost once i've had the operation and gone through the recovery period, its funny really when I think about it now
Hi welcome to the kidney cancer group,
The best thing for you to do is keep fit before any operations, try to stop worrying I know I know it is easier said, but the more your worry the more you feel down there is so much new treatments out there they will be able to sort you out, try to stay positive and good luck for your op
