After searching yesterday for help with travel insurance, I tried various chats on here to see if anyone could help, and you did. However being new on forums etc I don’t know how to get back onto the original thread to say thank you.
I found that Insurewith were most helpful and insured me for 7 days, to Malta for £114.07. The lady who dealt with finding me a policy was really helpful and I’d definitely recommend them to anyone who’ll listen.
Hi the g mo. My pre op is on Friday and hopefully surgery to remove the tumour next week. It’s a secondary from kidney cancer from 2005 which has knocked me for six after all these years. Tragically in May last year my 39 year old daughter had an unexpected aneurysm and passed away. I believe this has triggered the cancer off again. She was a teacher so we travelled a lot together in the school holidays. I am going to fight this yet again in her honour and for my lovely husband and my poor darling younger daughter. Poignantly she said “We should have grown old together”. Those words ripped me in two.
Anyway I shall jot down your travel insurance info which I appreciate you posting. This is very new to me as I decided never to go on social media etc but I am finding writing it down very helpful. Once I am feeling more myself we will start bereavement counselling as a family. To be honest the cancer has been such an almighty shock but I will fight it like I did before because my darling girl would want me to do that and go cruising with her dad like we used to.
Dear Gooner, never give up, you owe it to everyone you hold dear. AND yourself. I'm a right old codger, never been on social media but joined MacMillan when l was reaching out for advice and reassurance. It is a wonderful community to share your thoughts with and to hear other peoples' "adventure" ( l use that word inspirationally). I shall be thinking of you as will lots of other community members. Take care. Adrian
Thank you Adrian. As you can see I’m not sleeping well at all so communicating with the outside world is comforting and reassuring. Because of pain I am unable to do much at the moment which is very frustrating. I normally play table tennis three times a week and a lot of walking as we live 5 minutes from the beach. Anyway will get myself sorted very soon and onwards and upwards. Sending big hugs to everyone out there and all stay safe xx
Yup, l'm the same, always had sleep problems. I read for an hour, then go back to bed and sleep like a baby. Take care and niht night. Adrian. As you say " onwards and upwards". By the way my rose tted glasses are working a treat.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
