In 2017 I was diagnosed with Papiliary Renal Cell Carcinoma on both kidneys, which were surgical removed. I am currently on staying with my dad in Barbados, when I left the UK I purchased travel insurance with Allianz Travel Insurance. During my holiday I became very tired, I had pounding headache and my blood pressure shot up. The doctors said I was dehydrated and gave me 1 litre of saline via drip. But said because of my cancer history they thought I should have a ultrasound scan. It has revealed a hypoechoic mass with a cyst component. They say I need a CT Scan now which I know. But the insurance are refusing to pay for it. If I have the scan here I can have the results in days and take it home to my urologist. They will only pay to send me home, if I do that it will be weeks before I get my scan and my results and put extra worry on dad who is 89, being away from me when I get the results, I will pay for it now because bviously my health comes first. But I am extremely annoyed and frustrated about the insurance who even after I explained my case fully refuses to pay. If I had of broken a leg fall off jet ski it would cost much more for my care. This is no lesser emergency.
Hi Smiles40 and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to read that you've been taken ill whilst in Barbados and that your travel insurance company, whilst they will pay for you to return home, won't pay for continued treatment in Barbados. What reason did they give for this?
