So. Been on it for about 9 months. And the drip every fortnight.
I do have a new mole on my chin now. Has anyone else found this with any treatments? Stupidly with a beard and facemasks I'd never really paid attention now I'm totally freaking out for some reason and have no one to talk to.
Hi , sorry you haven't had a response I imagine this might not be something anyone else has experienced. If you have a mole you are worried about the best thing to do is to contact your GP and get it checked out. I would also take a picture of it so that in a month or two if it changes you can take another picture so can see whether it's changed or gotten bigger.
Do go and get it looked at by your GP just to be safe and for peace of mind.
Is this for Kidney cancer? Complete layman's view, but the two sound completely unrelated to me. I'd phone your treatment centre and say you're worried about it and ask their advice. I'm about to start immunotherapy. I've read all the treatment info and all the side effects and never seen moles as a trigger point. Dry skin is a known side effect for immunotherapy.
I did read that lots of side effects can be nothing or something and that was why there was the Q&A before treatment, so the medics could decide. Phone up the centre - you don't need to speak to your oncologist, start with the support nurses and see what they say.
I had the complete opposite I had a mole on my shoulder which came off when I started my treatment and one on my nose, I have not heard of it causing moles but I would not like to comment, if in doubt why not ring your chemo team they are very good at answering questions about your treatments.
Hi PaulB76,
I'm not on Axitinib, I am on Nivolumab immunotherapy and one of the side effects for me is mole growth and itching. Apparently itching is common with both Chemo and Immune but my consultant was a little surprised by the additional moles that had appeared. I am prone to moles anyway so a few more didn't worry me too much but keep an eye on any new ones for misshapen growth, bleeding or excessive itching. My consultant has prescribed both Prednisolone (steroids) and cortisone creams fo my moles and that appears to be working, a couple have even dried up and fallen off. Hope this helps.
All the best,
Mike
Hi all.
I just wanted to share my experience of axinitib which wasn't great .
I started this time last year and within weeks my blood pressure started to steadily rise to a point when one morning was
on the verge of collapse ,ambulance was called and bp was 210/130.
meds were prescribed and on we go till march when i suffered a bad seizure .
i was taken off axitinib for about 6 weeks then restarted alongside avumalab but a few weeks later suffered another seizure.
it was decided to control things with steroids for a while then after a scan in sept the decision was to only have avumalab which seems to be keeping things at bay but not making any progress at killing off cells.
Obviously not everyone's the same but in my case axitinib and me do not mix and to top it off i had to surrender my driving license until i am seizure free which has devastated me and the wife as she is now stuck with all the driving!!!!
I do hope that we can get through all of this horrid business with as little side effects as possible.
Kind regards'
ANDY
Hi Andy, your story sounds awful, you have been very unlucky. I am NOT on your medication but what is referred to as GEM/CIS. l have had a couple of collapses thro BP but at the other end of the scale. As to D/L suspension, yup that is tough to take. But you'll get there in the end. Hang on in there. A cliche, l know but you WILL get through this. Keep going and my regards to you and your wife . Adrian
Hi, I'm on both Avalumab and Axitinib and have been since Sept 2020. I've been managing very well, with just a couple of occasions when I've had to take a short break. I'm currently on another break, hopefully short one, as I've got a persistent cough and shortness of breath. (Not Covid) One of the other things I've noticed is I've started to itch in various places, very peculiar and of course I've convinced myself that it's not related to my medication because I've been on it for so long and any side effects would have happened way before now, so I suppose my question is, can side effects happen so far into treatment? Any support with this will be greatly appreciated
X
Hello my freind. I feel that you cant tar everyone with the same brush and everyone's DNA says that .from what I've read and my own experience, side effects can come and go.i can go for ages and themy skin will itch a little and flake but I take antihistamines and it settles down, same with my scalp..with my seizures I was told I was a one in a thousand case, just my luck, should have bought a
ottery ticket
hope that's a bit assuring that your not the only one...take care andy
