A 3cm lesion was picked up on s CT scan for kidney stones. An urgent referral was made to the Urology centre at Guy's. Whilst there I had a CT scan with contrast. This was approximately a week ago and as yet I have not heard anything. However, this morning (Saturday) I received an urgent text to arrange an Ultrasound appointment. Obviously as it is the weekend I am unable to get through to anybody for more info. I am confused as to why an ultrasound would be requested after a CT scan which I understood to be far more accurate.
Hi . I'm not from this group as I have a different type of cancer. I always would have thought a CT scan is more accurate but have read that Ultrasound can be used to image muscles, tendons etc. so they can a further diagnostic tool. In my case Ultrasouns was the first diagnostic tool, showed a thickening of the womb which led to MRI and CT scans.
Have you had your ultrasound yet? The radiologists can be quite cagey about telling you anything - but I ask anyway!
Good luck, B xx

Phone call received from the consultant to inform me that the ultrasound was merely for verification purposes. CT scan highlighted the lesion was a simple cyst, they just wanted to be thorough. Had the ultrasound yesterday. The technician pretty much confirmed it was a cyst although I won't get confirmation until later this week.
Fingers crossed for good news next week!

Hi Swisstony,
Welcome to the group I am glad you were able to get thru to your consultant, I think it is best to have the different tests as they do get a better idea of what they are dealing with, my cancer was found by an ultrasound and I have had a MRA and CT scans every three months, if it is just a cyst and it is confirmed than they will know what treatment you should have, I hope everything goes well for you
