Hi everyone, bonkers question but l love bananas and want to know if it is OK to eat them fairly unripe or very ripe. I know, pretty pathtic question but l just love bananas. Thanks for not bursting not outlaughing . Regards Suffolkflyer.
Hi Suffolkflyer I just dropped by, I'm not from this group, and noticed you've not had a reply from anyone as yet.
It's not a daft question at all! I do know that when bananas get very ripe (brown spots) they have more sugar (fructose) BUT they are rich in potassium which, if you've had a nephrectomy, can effect kidney function so I'd ask a Nurse on the Macmillan Support helpline, freephone number shown below.
Hope you get an answer soon, B xx

Hi Suffolkflyer as MrsBJH says, do give the helpline a ring - on 0808 808 0000. They're the best folk to answer your question., Especially as potassium directly affects the kidneys.
Good luck,
