Heads gone !!
Dear Emma B,
I see by your e-Mail that you have been offered immunotherapy and chemo tablets, have you had either of them before, I do know with your head and heart spinning out of control you don’t know what to do or who to talk to, have your Macmillan nurses been able to help you, I was on immunotherapy for five months but my kidney cancer was still growing, it had shrunk my lung cancer, so my consultant put me on chemo tablets, first scan showed some shrinking in kidney, than at my next three month scan it was stable, I have had another scan but I am waiting for results on September 2nd, the doctors are working all the time on different treatments so don’t dispair, you have come to the right place to discuss as we have all been there, try to keep going and I hope your family will be able to help too
Sandy
Hi Emma B,
I hope your treatment went well, did they give you an ant-sickness drip first that is what happened to me as I was ok the second time I was asked if I wanted to try without they do give you tablets to take home, I was lucky I did not feel sick, I take my chemo tablet at 7.30 each morning before my breakfast, so far so good I hope you get on well with the treatment do you have your family with you now, I know you want to be brave, but you do need support of everyone so when you have good or bad days there is someone to help you through, please keep us informed with your treatment and good luck to you sending you air hugs
Hi Emma , it must have been such a shock when the cancer came back . My husband's kidney tumour was inoperable and had spread to lungs and pleura at diagnosis we really thought it was a death sentence that was over 2 yrs ago . He had 18 months nearly on immunotherapy with some success in shrinking tumours unfortunately it stopped working and it spread to 4 more places . He is now on sunitinib and doing quite well , we try to get on with life and are about to go off on holiday .
Try to keep on top of any side effects from treatment, keep a diary so you can see if theres a pattern and it means you remember what to tell them when you go to appointments. Drinks loads of water , my husband drinks about 2 litres a day . I hope the treatment is manageable and you get great results . It's all such a rollercoaster xx
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
