Following hideous negligence leading to me being falsely told I did not have cancer, I eventually found out after months by pure coincidence. Hospital shown no interest in or talent for investigating what went wrong. Could do with a good independent advocate and a good responsible media contact for this juicy story.
MacMillan won't help and suggest I ask members, or put another way it is the sick helping the sick.
Any ideas?
Just see a solicitor, usually 1st appointment is free .but you usually have to go through pals 1st at the hospital
Mark Nice of you to answer but not that easy. Not true that PALS need to be involved, involving PALS is totally voluntary and I have already had a whitewash of an investigation 'completed' headed by Chief Executive in the prescribed manner. Furthermore I am not wishing to pursue a legal claim, and I live on the Isle of Wight which is a small community with various conflicts of interest so hiring a local professional seldom works as they are aware they may end up using the ' services' of anyone complained against.
The PALS system is never recommended for serious complaints, it is a Patient Advice and Liaison service after all. Staff are employed by the local Health authority and certainly locally they never forget who pays their mortgage. In fact I have known them not be able to carry out their own duties because ( even pre covid) they have been seconded to cover absence on Reception.
So, see how easy it isn't. Very demoralising, although if they were competent in the first place a robust investigation would not be necessary.
They were placed in Special measures. I sorely regret living here.
Hi sorry for the crap information, we were told pals were the 1st port of call about when we wanted to make a complaint. Once again very sorry about that. Keep your chin up try get a good night's kip
So are you having treatment, did you have a nephrectomy? Possibly concentrate on getting your health on an even keel before putting yourself under more stress .
The law society should be able to advise on a solicitor specialising in medical negligence. Re;media and a juicy story , I imagine you would need to prove negligence before they would touch it hence why you would need a solicitor.
Negligence will not be hard to prove. It was pretty spectacular. Yes Kidney went on Thursday. Large incision, heaven knows why I have such huge kidneys. Took two anaesthetists, two surgeons ( I am only 5ft 2) . Were it not for a Rheumatologist / Lupus Consultant reading through the records I still would not have been treated because the diagnosis had been ignored, I was told it was constipation/ woman's trouble you name it.
Even after that , action was not taken locally, and the Urologist essentially did nothing then lied about it.
It sounds unbelievable I know.
Mark, I hope whatever your complaint was you managed to sort it.
Sometimes we just have to fight back, for us and hopefully for others.
Just a thought, if your MP is any good they might be willing to take this up, especially if similar things are happening to others.
I hope you are recovering from the operation and that you are at least feeling a bit better.
Take care
The Isle of Wight does not excel.at much sadly. The MP Bob Seeley was one who broke lickdown for a barbecue with his rich friends...in the National papers he whined that he had ' only eaten half a sausage'... He is largely invisible but no harm in trying. I was actually admitted to the local hospital the last few days, somewhere I had no intention of ever being. I thought a quick prescription and I would be on my way. Home again today. Although being there was difficult one of the Junior Doctors( from when the cancer was ignored ) was there. Came in specifically to see me and helped to fill a few gaps. I always knew he wasn't to blame but he did tell me some useful stuff and told me he had been worried sick ever after about me.
It did help to know someone cared.
Yes, I am not quite as bad or incapacitated as I feared. Because I have other health problems at the best of times I viewed this with some trepidation but even with a large incision it was not too bad after the first week.
How are you faring?
xxx
I am glad to hear that you are feeling better than you expected after your operation, and I hope that your other health problems are also under control.
I had my right kidney removed on June 18th. It was pretty straightforward, and I am recovering well, but since I won the cancer lottery (breast, kidney, lung, all primaries), I am going to have lung surgery next week, floods and Covid permitting. Wish me luck!
Hi just read what you have put on here. I truly hope everything goes well and you have a speedy recovery
