Hi all
Just thought I would post an update as usually I just lurk in the forum.
After a ccRCC stage 4 diagnosis last May 2024 I initially has a full Nephrectomy of my left kidney and started Ipi/Nivo Sept 2024 1st scan in Nov 24 showed stable disease and I was entered into the REFINE trial, where I receive the nivo maintenance infusion every 2 months (8 weeks) instead of the standard 4 weeks.
I had nivo In Dec 24, Feb 25, April 25 and last one 2 days ago.
2nd scan in March showed some reduction, I had the results of my third scan last Monday, incredibly Dr said complete response, NED. Me and my wife were completely stunned, it's only just sinking in.
I must admit to having an odd feeling about posting this, guilty even, unreasonable I know but after a bit of thought I decided to post and hope my news gives everyone some hope.
I still have a long way to go and will stay on my treatment for another 12-18 months, but treatments are getting better and the Drs knowledge is growing. My best wishes to you all
Hi DC1,
That is wonderful news!!! On both a personal level for you, and also for the future treatment of cancers.
You certainly shouldn't feel in the least "guilty"! This result is fantastic, gives you so much more hope than you had before, and moreover gives hope to many others who are on, or likely to be on, your path or a similar one.
Way to go! You can look forward to even more improvement and yes, as you say, treatments are getting better all the time.
