It's nearly surgery day, Friday to be exact. A partial nephrectomy of my solitary kidney Grimacing My surgeon seems very skilled so I'm pretty confident that all will be well Fingers crossed
I had a phonecall appointment on Tuesday from the kidney care team who talked me through the possibility of needing dialysis after should things take a turn, and I need my kidney removed. Said the anaesthetist will be instructed to put in the fistula in theatre should it be needed. Any dietary changes etc would be discussed after surgery when they know how much function I have left.
I'm a bit scared, but trying to stay positive that all will be well Pray
I even thought about Christmas while out shopping and got tins of my grandsons favorite biscuits and a little Christmas outfit for my baby granddaughter I hadn't even thought about Christmas lol!
It feels like an eternity since this was first discovered in May, now finally the last I will see of my kidney lodger!

  • Hi Kittyslim,

I really hope your surgery is a success, keep positive and as you say, the lodger has outstayed its welcome!!

Oh well, scrap that.....it's been cancelled until 27th as my surgeon has got Covid Grimacing

Wishing him a speedy recovery and hope he doesn't share with me next week Pray

  • Oh no! You don’t think about the surgeon becoming ill as so focused on your journey Cry at least the delay is not too long, stay positive for next week now Fingers crossed tone1

I had Covid two weeks before I started chemo and was so worried it would be delayed, luckily the line disappeared in time Sweat smile

27th isn't far away though.  At least they didn't put you to the end of the queue.

I was most relieved when the cns called me to say it was the 27th, I thought I may have to chase them up in the weeks to come!

Another week won't hurt, gives me time to find a dressing gown that will fit in my bag lol!
