Hi
So a couple of months ago I started getting problems with joint pain and muscle pain.
Originally investigation into carpal tunnel and osteoarthritis. Saw a physio who asked if I was having night sweats. Which I had been getting for a while.
I hadn't really worried about the night sweats as I had them in the past due to side effects from antidepressants. Though I stopped using antidepressants a few years back.
The physio bless her said, contact your GP straight away. So the GP said it was a red flag, sent me for a chest x-ray (clear). I then had an ultrasound scan which picked up a tumor on my right kidney and possibly something in the liver.
CT scan then a consultation with the Urologist and I have an 8cm mass in my kidney and they think the liver thing is a hemangioma.
MRI scan in the next couple of weeks and if all well a radical nephrectomy within the next few weeks after.
Still getting a lot of joint and muscle pain, lower back and rt flank pain, which is being controlled with codeine.
Did anyone else get pain symptoms with renal cancer, especially hands and wrists
Sorry for the long winded message
Hi Chippy,
My journey started in January. I have always had a growth in my right testicle, which was checked about 30 - 40 years ago, and the GP said was non cancerous and not to worry about it.
The growth got bigger.
Again the GP checked it out and said she didn't think it was cancerous, but just to be on the safe side, fast tracked me for a US of my groin area to check. The US picked up Varicocele, which is blocked veins in the scrotum. NHS now downgraded my condition to normal waiting list. Will see the Urologist in about a year to progress.
I decided to go private to get this condition done. Private Urologist wasn't happy with just a US of the groin area. He gave me a prostate manual check and also checked my PSA. Both were Normal. Kidney test last October from GP was also Normal. Had a private US of my Kidneys. Result 10cm mass on my right kidney. I feel absolutely fine, other than a larger than usual right testicle.
Have now had a CT scan, and now been told that there appears to be no sign of it anywhere else, so hoping for the best.
Seeing consultant on Thurs. 25th May to discuss removal of right kidney.
This has been a nightmare.
Hi Snellijw
My goodness,
Really good news that it appears to be contained within the kidney.
Please let me know how it goes with the consultant, it's a tough time waiting for results and not being able to plan ahead.
Have you got someone that can come along to the appointment with you.
It's useful to have a second pair of ears and moral support.
You will probably also meet your Cancer Specialist Nurse at the meeting.
They are really helpful
Hope everything turns out as well as it can
Hi,
Yes, the wife is coming to the appointment too. Am hoping that the appointment confirms, what the letter did.
I know having the kidney removed is a big thing, but if that is all it is, then so be it.
I am just glad I went down the private route, at the time, as it would never had been detected for another year.
Will let everyone know as to Thursday's appointment.
