Hi all.
My dad has stage 4 renal cancer. Spread to adrenal glands, lungs, retreo peritoneal. He had cancer 5 yrs ago in right kidney and had that kidney removed. He also has coronary heart disease. He started treatment in the form of tki targeted therapy with Pazopanib 800mg daily. However as soon as he approaches day 8 his blood pressure massively increases to the regions of 188/99(known side effect of this drug is very high blood pressure)and his treatment is halted. This has happened 3 times now. He should be on day 52 of continous treatment but only had 24 days of treatment. He is very disheartened that he can't get a good run of this treatment to stabilise the cancer growth.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and how it was overcome.
Many thanks in advance
Losa
Hi Lisa82 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that your dad is struggling with his treatment and it must be a worrying time for the whole family.
I don't have the experience you're looking for but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be easier to spot.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could pop something about your dad's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
