Was at my first consultation 2 days ago and was told it’s stage 4 kidney cancer that has spread to my lung my consultant said I would be put on a tablet daily and get immunotherapy every 3 weeks is anyone else been put on tablets daily plus getting immunotherapy thanks

  • Do you know the names of the tablets/immunotherapy?  Cabozantinib comes in tablet form and is used for RCC in combination treatment, but there's hunners of them tbh!  Sounds a pretty standard approach.

  • Yes the tablets are called Axittinib ( Inlyta ) and immunotherapy is Pembrolizumab.

  • I was offered this as an option but went for ipilimumab / nivolumab instead.  My onco advised that pembro / axitinib had fab results.

  • Thank you will try them first I know I’m going to go through unpleasant things but I’m a positive person.

  • Sounds like you’re very similar to me. Just had confirmation it’s spread to both lungs very slightly, and I’m on the same treatment plan as you.

    Im getting ipilimumab/nivolumab though

  • We could let each other know how we get on with side effects etc hope all goes well for you.

  • Sure, it’ll help to see someone starting around the same time. And likewise, hope everything goes as well as it can.
