Hi I’m new to this back in nov 2022 I had a CT scan for a persistent flank and back pain last 2 yrs .  They found a modular thickening where the tube attaches to the kidney slightly enlarged  kidney pelvic ? It was thought TCC  and needed urgent referal

I was fast tracked  for camera on the kidney but sent to wrong thing sent to bladder camera. But they could do that either as I had an infection.  They referred me again after chase I g that up the MDT said they thought it wasn’t cancer but couldn’t rule it out and I had to have another CT scan in 8 weeks well that was 4 weeks ago still not heard anything.

  • The waiting is horrible, I hope you get some news soon,

I'm new to all this and I'm in the waiting stage too

  • The waiting is sometimes the hardest part in the early stages. But I have confidence, that when they have all the relevant info to best proceed with a treatment. They then move quite quickly! Good luck to both of you and all the best

  • Thank you both of you it felt a relief just writing it down and your responses  x

Petlover thinking about you too while we wait x

  • Writing your thoughts down and being able to ask others in the same boat, I think is good theropy!! We are all here for each other x

  • Did I understand correctly   - you're waiting for the CT scan date to come through?  Mine frequently come through with less than 2 weeks notice.  This is for the ones the oncologist has requested in a specific week, which sounds like what your MDT has asked for?  I phoned mine up once because I hadn't heard anything (impatient!) and they just advised it was on the list, just not scheduled.  Part of the issue at the start is learning how everything operates I think.

  • Hi Mmum I had the scan  4 weeks ago I called them 2 weeks ago they said they hadn’t looked at it yet the MDT would look and write to me still not heard anything .

  • Had my scan 3 weeks ago, they said I would be telephoned with results still waiting,

Initially they were fast to get the second scan done but now it's gone quiet

  • Reading these, I'm starting to think so far i've been pretty lucky! Haven't had to wait more than a few days for either scans and mri's, or results. And my consultants assistant has kept me upto date by phone, with appointments. What jumps out at me is something Mmum said in one of her comments, is about gentle "reminders". Don't be afraid to give em a call, to ease your mind. Your specialist nurse is there for you for, to help with these worries/concerns and if necessary chase up your consultant for you.

  • Thank-you Anddy, the nurse did give me her name so I may give her a call
