Hi everyone I'm new here,

Feb 13th I had an ultrasound on my liver,

Feb 14th I had a telephone call from my GP saying my liver was fine but they had found a tumour in my kidney which he says is cancer (I was confused how they would know this without a biopsy)

Feb 15th a full blood count was done

Feb 21st this evening I had a ct scan

Tomorrow I have a  call from the Urology department.

I was wondering if this sounds familiar to other people

  • Yep, very familiar!

I think they can tell from the US but it's not that accurate and they need the CT scan for the full extent and to start deciding whether a biopsy is required.  I spoke to quite a number of consultants, my GP and support staff in between US and CT results and reading the room I got the picture, although none nailed their colours to the mast.  The biopsy can confirm cancer and the type.  But sometimes the CT scan can confirm cancer too.  To find out the type you need a biopsy or analysis post surgery.

That's amazing turnaround from the CT scan to the Urology meeting.  I hope they have your results tmrw.  Perhaps Urology are confident they will be able to advise without the specialist radiology report.  My consultant asks for results from Radiology in 2 weeks.

  • Thank you so much for your reply, I will be able to get a better night's sleep now

    Ki d regards
