Hi all,

I have sore blisters on my feet from my drug Cabozantinib. It’s making it hard to walk. Anyone got any suggestions to alleviate aside from good shoes?

  • Hi

Having blisters on your feet sounds very unpleasant and, although I haven't had the same experience, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet.

I've had a look at the information Macmillan has on cabozantinib and it does list "sore and red palms of hands and soles of feet" as one of the common side effects of this drug. The information goes on to say:

"You may get sore and red palms of hands and soles of feet. The skin may also begin to peel. This is called palmar-plantar or hand-foot syndrome. It usually gets better after treatment ends.

Tell your doctor or nurse about any changes to your hands or feet. They can give you advice and prescribe creams to improve any symptoms you have. It can help to:

    • keep your hands and feet cool
    • moisturise your hands and feet regularly
    • avoid tight-fitting socks, shoes and gloves."

I hope you are able to get this sorted soon.

  • Hello seabreeze

I am on Cabo and had sore feet. My specialist nurse suggested going to a podiatrist and when I did go it was actually lots of corns and they were sorted in 1 visit.

might be worth looking into a possible podiatrist appointment with your specialist nurse even if yours is caused by something different.

    hope it gets sorted x

  • I spent quite a while on cabozantinib and had sore soles of feet. As another poster has said my turned out to be corns too, rather than a direct side effect of the drug. A few appointments with a podiatrist made a huge difference.
