Hi all,
I’m 10 days post op radical nephrectomy (laparoscopic) left kidney (8cm tumour). I still have quite a lot of pain and wondered how long before that settles down. Also, despite walking every day and taking laxatives, I have only had one bowel movement. Would love to know others experiences. Thanks a million
Hi Kristine,
glad to hear that it’s all done and you are through the other side. Sorry to hear about the pain and not being able to go to the loo. I was quite fortunate in the pain dept as I didn’t suffer as much as I thought I would so I do feel for you.
With regards going to the loo, I was given stool softeners which helped me. You can get them over the counter so maybe a family member could get them for you. Also if you are struggling to strain a bit you could get some glycerine suppositories. Holding a cushion over your stomach and pressing gently on your wounds may help if you are straining. Are you drinking enough fluid as that will help. Maybe the constipation is causing some of the pain.
Hope some of that helps.
Best wishes,
Jules.
