I have a date for my kidney removal next week which at first I was very happy about, as my tumour is large and painful. But now I'm starting to get nervous about it, as although it is keyhole, they're removing a kidney! A whole kidney! It just sounds radical, which I suppose it is! I know lots of you will have gone through this and just wanted to know what to expect afterwards. My consultant said the incision will need to he quite large to get it out, and that one is my main concern pain wise. Thank you in advance.
Hi Kira,
I had the same op and it went well and wasn’t as bad as I was dreading. On the day of the op I was actually quite calm and had a let’s get this done attitude. I had a sandwich a couple of hours after I had come back from recovery.
Try to keep yourself busy until the op….even if it’s just watching TV if you have to covid isolate.
Wishing you all the very best and let us know when you have had it done.
Best wishes,
Jules x
