Hi everyone, I posted about two months ago about my diagnosis of kidney cancer, which has spread to adrenal gland and a vein. Didn’t take in all the details, since I was so shocked! Had operation on 26th September and am now at home recovering. Had open surgery and had an epidural for first few days. No complications, and I’ve to see surgeon again to discuss next stage of treatment. Coping with nausea caused by dihydrocodeine medication is playin havoc with my system. At least I’m still here.
Hi Freed, it is all a lot to take in at first, a real shock to the system! It sounds like the surgery went well if you're home now, so congrats on that! My main advice would be don't try and do too much too soon, let your body heal, which is going to take a while! Eat lots as you'll be burning calories while your body recovers and take any help offered to you
Take care
Glad to hear your op seems to have gone well. Hope the next stage brings further relief. I hear you on dihydrocodeine. Good luck Freed.
I am going through a phase of reducing all my prescribed meds to near zero where possible. Its easy to get into bad habits. GPs just dish stuff out. My digestive system seems to be recovering slowly now thanks to a specialist clinic I am under. I just take paracetamol too !
PS: I also find the old fashioned bi carbonate does wonders to settle my system and repair the damage from the opioids.
