Hi all,
Was wondering if any of you have underlying conditions and if so what treatment your on.
I have dialysis for Kidney failure, have heart failure and am diabetic. My cancer is a 8cm tumour in right kidney with spread to lungs and spine.
My Oncologist has advised no treatment available.althouhj I am considering asking for a second opinion.
Your thoughts greatly appreciated

It's strange. First Consultant I saw explained about the cancer. Said treatable but not curable. Discussed TKI and even went as far as to say if results were promising after a couple of years they may look to take kidney out. 4 weeks later see Oncologist who tells me not suitable for treatment of any kind and that I have about 12 months. I am seriously considering asking for a second opinion.

Yeah, second opinion sounds good. That's what I'd go for. Especially if you have no hard stats for why you can't have treatment. For example something like "threshold for treatment is bloods below/above blah. "
Can no diabetic be treated for cancer, ever? Sounds strange to me.
Do you have a "named consultant" in oncology who you have been assigned to. In my dept I have a named consultant but beneath him there's a whole team and I might see any one of them. Although it's predominantly the same one, who is junior to my named consultant. .
