Hi everyone. My first post in Kidney cancer forum.

I was diagnosed with a 9cm tumour on my right kidney And a bosniak 2f cyst on my keft kidney a month ago (Feb 10th).

I also had a 4cm tumour in my bladder. Not been a great year so far.

I don't have much to post beyond the details of what was found after ct scan. The Hospital want to do a TURPT on my bladder this coming friday.

I'm guessing it'll be bladder first then kidney some time further down the road. I've heard they 'take them out'. And i suppose that's what they'll do with mine. I have no idea what size a kidney is but a 9cm tumour sounds bloody large to me.

I have my fingers crossed for everyone here. I have read quite a few threads trying to get accustomed to my new circumstances.

Hello anyway.... Del

  • Hi Deloo. I posted for the first time earlier too. As you can see am still wide awake just gone 4 am. I’m not even on Facebook or instagram so probably doing this all wrong lol. Wow you are having  a really tough time. I can only comment really on kidney cancer. As I said in earlier post I was first diagnosed in 2005 and had a left nephrectomy so total removal of kidney and sack. My tumour was 7.5 cm and I had surgery not keyhole. Was very lucky that the wound was large but I didn’t get any infection whatsoever. I wont lie it is quite a long recovery time but for 16 years I have been managing just fine. I usually play table tennis 3 times a week, walk loads as we live by the sea and go on loads of cruises pre covid.

Being told this is a secondary to my kidney cancer from 2005 was a real shock but like last time I will get on with it. Myself, my husband and other daughter owe it to our darling girl to carry on as she was such an amazing person.
I wish you all the very best and I know it’s easy to say but try and stay positive. I was great for 16 years and intend to get through this time too.

  • Hi Gooner.

What a marvellous, encouraging, reply from you. I was hoping to read/hear some news of life after nephrectomy and there you are with news. Great.

I suppose, as you say, i am having a tough time. I feel fine right now and have no pain or discomfort. Perhaps a dull low level ache in my back and that's it. No doubt tougher times ahead and i'm staying positive as you mention. I'm also being realistic. I know things can change and not always for the best. I'm trying to manange my hopes and expectations.

I/we live by the sea too. We walk alot. We got a cockapoo puppy 5 months back and she's an absolute nightmare but gorgeous with it...lol. So walks will be aplenty this year.

So sorry to read of you losing your daughter. That was a great first post i have to say. Some people have a way of saying things so smoothly and there was a great upbeat thread running through it. Even with the obvious deep saddness you felt at losing your girl. You are clearly a very spirited lady. And more power to you for that.

    Thanks again...Del

  • Hi Deloo.

Thank you for your lovely message. I am glad you felt my comments were positive. As I said for 16 years I lived life to the full so please take that on board for your recovery. I’m obviously nervous about more surgery but unfortunately i am in a lot of pain so surgery then radiotherapy is the best option for me.

Our other daughter has a 9 month cockapoo. Full of beans but adorable. She has just gone home after a week’s holiday. They love coming here as he loves the beach., we are only a five minute walk away. Will post again if I get my definite op date. All the best x
