It is Tuesday, I had a keyhole robot assisted operation to remove my right kidney last Friday, went home on Sunday, I am trying to do the deep breathing exercise, but it really hurts, and so does my back at the right shoulder blade; I dont want to eat or even drink. Is this normal? How long is it likely to last?

  • Hi , suggest you ask your cancer nurse specialist about this n also the sit'e's " ask an expert" tho allow 2'days for them to come back to you,as they're all volunteers.

Doesn't sound quite right somehow. Try n take sips of water, to stay hydrate in the meantime.

  • Thanks Sue, it's really kind of you to reply.

I do feel like a bit of a fraud though because I already feel quite a bit better. I suppose I should just have a bit more patience.

I really would not want to contact the nurse specialist unless i really had to. The queue of people waiting to be seen when I went for my face to face appointment was unbelievable. I cannot imagine how they manage.

I have arranged a phone appointment with my GP for Friday, so I will ask her advice if  I'm still worried.

The whole experience is just so wierd. My kidney cancer was an accidental discovery, so I went into hospital feeling  perfectly normal and came home feeling ill.

    Anyway, thanks again.

  • So many ppl say their kidney cancer diagnosis was a complete surprise  - mine wasn't as I'd had pain in my side n blood in my urine. In fact I had to press the hospital  for an ultrasound scan, but once discovered things moved on apace!
