I had my kidney removed in nov 2019, due to a 10cm tumour they said they got it all, which is great but since then at first the pain I was experiencing my consultant said was due to scar tissue, the pain is still there now he is saying it’s due to nerve damage, I have been prescribed gabapentine the highest dose 900mg 3 times a day the pain, is still there it goes from my flank round to my groin and down my thigh, has anyone else experienced this after surgery? Another question even though they said I had no cancer in the margins and gave to have yearly scans do you have pay for medication as my chemist said I could be exempt from paying prescriptions for a certain amount of time is this true ?
Hi Deb 1234,
Hope your well ,I'm still in the early days of recovery so not the best to answer the pain one ,but I was looking into the free prescription yes you can get a 5 year certificate which needs to be signed by your GP link below

Hope it helps
Hello, I have also had pain in my right side going down into my groin and up my back since my operation in October 2020. I have also been told that it is scar tissue and/or nerve damage. I am on tramadol as required (usually only one a day) and find it eases the pain. I have also realised that getting constipated makes it a whole lot worse so I'm on regular laxatives. I hope you get help soon. All the best Mags
