I have to admit to be so scared - I am still recovering from stage 3c bowel cancer, last year I had major APR surgery which left me with a permanent colostomy, and then followed by six months chemo. As you all know, you live with the fear on a day to day basis and learn to count any blessings that come along.
Now this fear too.....a few days ago my left breast felt itchy and red, then it had a small raised area much like a gnat bite would have although at this time of year and well wrapped up against the last of the winter winds I did wonder how it would have got in there. Now the redness has spread and there are other marks too. I came on here and lo and behold my symptoms fit those that lots of women on here have had.
I am terrified - surely surely this can't happen, not again. With the bowel cancer there are lots of other things that symptoms can be but with this I can't seem to find anything.
I know none of you can make this better and I am going to the doctor on Tuesday but from my previous experience on here I just know it is good to be amongst others xxx
Hi Still Me welcome to the forum and so sorry to hear about how worried that you are.
It can be tempting when we have had previous experience of Cancer, that comes into our lives very uninvited ,we think that anything that happens to us after that could be the Cancer returning and you are not alone in that. I don't think that fear ever goes away for any of us.
This could be a bite or it could be infection or it could be something totally unrelated to Breast Cancer. You have done exactly the right thing though in going to see the GP as they will be able to tell you exactly what this could be.If there is any concern at all then they may refer you to the Breast Clinic but that still doesn't mean it is anything to worry about they are erring on the side of caution given your previous history.
If I could leave you with one piece of advice it would be to STAY OFF GOOGLE it is often unreliable and can make you more scared and you don't need that right now.
Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on at the GP on Tuesday as we will be thinking of you. Sending some huge big hugs your way meantime. xxxxxx
Hi Granny59 thank you so much for your reply, sorry for taking so long to reply but my husband slipped a disc and ended up in hospital- how dare he get ill!! Hence I didn’t get to the doctors when planned and now it had faded away, I don’t know if that can happen but if it comes back I will be straight there xx
