  • Hi   and a warm welcome to this corner of the Community although I am always sorry to see folks joining us. I am Mike and I help out around our various Lymphoma groups.

I don’t have Hodgkin's Lymphoma but I was diagnosed way back in 1999 at 43 with a rare, incurable but treatable type of Low Grade Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma eventually reaching Stage 4a in late 2013 so although my Lymphoma ‘type’ is different I do appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.

The initial diagnosis is challenging but the more you talk with people about the condition and get started your treatment the more the noise between your ears will calm down.

I had a different treatment journey but on the whole I did ok although my type of Lymphoma is incurable I am over 7 years out from my last treatment, I turned 67 back in November and I am doing great (you can see my story in the link at the bottom)

Treatment can be challenging but tends to be do-able with some Side Effects but we could line up 10 people with the same condition on the same treatment and we would get 10 differently stories……. just take each day as it comes.

The initial hope is that your Hodgkins Lymphoma can be put into a long remission and the longer this last the less chance that it will come back.

As you get ready for treatment you may want to look at the following link Top Tips for the day of your Chemotherapy as this will help you get yourself ready.

Always around to help more or just to chat.

  • Sorry you have to go through this and with a young child it will be extra challenging! I was diagnosed 2 years ago, had chemo and high dosage steroids,  it was a very challenging road. But I’m here, had the all clear 17 months ago and am trying to get back some strength and stamina. My initial consultant told me, “if you have to have a cancer, this is the one to have! It is the most curable and treatable,” it will be tough but you’ll get through it. Good luck, remember baby steps!

  • I forgot to add that I am almost 30 years older than you and had  lymphoma in 5 places! So try to feel positive.
