Hi All,

Another addition to the group. I have been diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma (Stage 1) about 3 weeks ago and due to have my first treatment next week. I have been advised of having 2 to 4 cycles of chemo followed by radiotherapy.

I am seeing consultant on 5th and could end up having chemo the very next day. I am generally okish apart from severe upper and lower leg pain with some upset stomach. I am worried post chemo if this is going to make it worse hence reaching out to see if anyone had similar experience.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

  • Hi  and welcome to this corner of the Community although always sorry to see folks joining us. I am Mike  and I help out around our various Lymphoma groups.

I don’t have HL but was diagnosed in 1999 with a rare, incurable but treatable type of NHL Stage 4a and although my Lymphoma ‘type’ is different I know this journey rather well.

The hope is that your symptoms would slowly improve because of the treatment and for me this happens rather quickly although some folks including myself end up having other post treatment challenges.

Lets look for some of the group members to pick up on your post. You can also look through the various posts (hit the main group name and scroll down) and as always you can hit reply and ask some questions and see if the member is looking in.

Always around to help more or just to chat.

  • Hello - the best advice I received when I started chemo in 2019 was to make yourself known to the specialist nurses - if they don't approach you - associated with the consultant/treatment unit. They have years of knowledge/experience and TIME to concentrate on you and your needs. But they haven't ESP - you must contact them and don't feel you are wasting their time.

Best of luck and may 2022 be a good year for you,

    Pete

  • Many thanks Mike, sorry to hear about post treatment challenges but reading through your journey and what you upto is such an aspiration.  Thanks for reaching out.

  • Many thanks Pete,

I have recahed out and hoping they could advise soon.

Wish 2022 brings all the joy and good news for all of us.
