Hi all just wondering if anyone has experienced this, I’m currently holidaying in the sunny Swiss alps. I am 6 month clear of my cancer and last radiotherapy treatment.
I have tried my absolute best to cover up from the sun and make sure I have factor 50 on the area I had radiation, I’m starting to notice a slight change in the skin on that area, sort of like a slight tan does this mean I’m not protecting myself enough? Sometimes I rely on sun block alone when I’m too hot is this not sufficient?
thanks x
Hi DuchessRvn, sounds a great holiday.
As you are seeing a change in your skin you have to assume that yes, you do need to be more carful.
My dermatologist (I have a rare skin NHL) is insistent that factor 50 should be seen as a secondary protection to covering up and as best as possible wearing uv-protection graded cloths.
Thank you for your always quick reply Mike! You’re amazing!
sadly I thought as much. It’s horrible that it always effects you no matter how well you feel or how much of a good time you are having you always have to think about it. Stupid cancer!
I bought some mountain specific suncream basically I’ll have to take a layer of my skin of to take this cream off ! I also bought a buff to cover my neck not ideal in the heat, but it will cover me up.
Both should do the trick, again thank you for your help x
You will learn the best way to live with these challenges rather than be defined by it.
I have not had any issues in all these years so it can be done.
