Hodgkin's Relapse 1 week after end of 6 cycles of ABVD?

Hello everyone,

My name is Manos, I am a 39 year old male and I was diagnosed with stage II classical Hodgkin's lymphoma back in March 2020. My symptoms prior to the diagnosis involved chest pain and difficulty breathing. I had no visible swollen lymph modes anywhere else in my body. I started undertaking 6 cycles of ABVD which was de-escalated to AVD following my interim PET scan after cycle 2 which showed almost complete metabolic response (Deauville score 2/3). I have now finished my full 6 cycles of chemo last Friday and even though all along my chest pain had gone away completely, for the past few days I have started feeling similar symptoms to the ones that I had before my diagnosis; a bit of weight on my chest, a bit of difficulty breathing and chest pain. My question is can it be the Hodgkin's has already come back? I am due to have my end of treatment PET scan in mid December as my doctors wanted to rule out a false positive scan.

I was so looking forward to the end of treatment and enjoy my recovery but this is simply not helping put my mind at rest.

Any advice and former experience will be greatly appreciated.

I thank you in advance,

Manos

  • Great news and thank you for coming back to tell us, this type of information is a great help for others standing on the start line thinking ‘I can’t do this’

You now move into the post treatment part of the journey and your mind and body are still recovering but have a look at this great paper - After the Treatment Finishes - Then What? by Dr Peter Harvey as it highlights the milestones of the post treatment journey.

Do keep an eye out for others looking for support as there is nothing like talking with others who have walked the walk.

    Have a great Christmas.

I just had my 3 month lab work and physical assessment with doctor and all still fine :) I still have the aching/sensations in my chest and neck, guess maybe it’s just here to stay! Just telling you so that even if you keep feeling them, it’s still ok!

  • Aches and pains in areas where growths were is rather normal as there is often muscle and nerve damage.

It took a while for me to say my neck damage was all but gone but it does come back from time to time during times when I am not so active especially during the winter.
