Hello Pod5, I have been experiencing the same I am on my 5th Cycle AVD. Actually I had my normal period during the first cycle, then on the third cycle, i start to have hot flashes on my head, then I sweat to the extend my shirt would get completely wet, then I feel really cold afterwards and shivery especially if i have them night times. when i told my oncologist about the flushes, he then informed me the wow news, I was "tipped into menopause". I am not sure though if it is reversible in my case as I am 46 already.
Sadly these are most likely hormonal, as an older person on oestrogen-busting meds for a different cancer (bc) I can identify!!!
any concerns, please do contact your specialist nurse, they’d much rather you pester than struggle with something that ‘might’ be a problem!

HI there. I had ABVD for HL aged 43-44...and experienced 5 months of terrible hot flushes after. My doc said it was probably menopause too...but then, just as I started getting blood tests to check hormones, they just gradually went away and my periods resumed. I feel for you- they are so disruptive...but they might go away I time. Good luck!
hey Oak tree, I'm so sorry to hear you had such a terrible time with the hot flushes. I hope with the return of your periods that's not giving you too much pain either. Weirdly haven't had any sweats for the past few days, I do find when one symptom disappears another one pops up, like it's a big bag of perplexing symptoms. Had horrid bone pain in the arm they put the infusion into 5 days after chemo, have no idea if that's a delayed reaction, or the chemo. Day 10 now - this seems to be the first day feeling "relatively" normal :-). I hope you're having a good Sunday and thank you for your message x x x
