Hi I’ve had a break in my treatment because of flu I start again on Tuesday and my consultant has given me medicine to inject in my stomach three days after my chemotherapy as anyone had anything similar if so did it help with stomach pain thanks Paul
Hi again Paul greeny123 ……. these injections are nothing to do with helping pain…… if anything they may actually develop some bone pain.
I was on G-CSF Injections Growth Factor Injections for 4-5 days after my 6 cycles of R-EPOCH and daily for 3-4 months following my second Stem Cell Transplant.
These injections are designed to ‘wake up’ your bone marrow and develop more white blood cells to improve your immune system….. but unfortunately there can be side effects like bad bone (my nurse called it bone marrow birthing pains).
I was told to take the injections out of the fridge, have few Paracetamol along with breakfast then did the injection.
But I was also prescribed Antihistamine like Piriton or Clarityn by my teams as this bizarrely stopped most of the pain developing (reducing histamine production).
These were taken as were further paracetamol as per the dose instructions (if required) worth talking with your team about this as not a lot of hospitals do the antihistamine thing.
I was told it would help with my white blood cells and I have to take biscapan tablets as well
I was told by my consultant that the stomach pain was due to the drop in my white blood cells and this injection would help with this I’ve had 6 treatments with 6 to go and I’ve been in hospital after each treatment with acute stomach pain I was going to stop my treatment but was persuaded to try this I’m now not sure this is right for me paul
Yes an improvement in your WBC will improve your immune system and in turn help n a round about way can help heal your stomach issues……
These treatment can strip the stomach lining and a reduced immune system due to the chemo opens you up to various issues one being your stomach.
Thanks TH you always reply and help thank you for that cheers paul
