I had hodgkins disease 20years ago. A recent PET scan showed enlarged lymph nodes in my neck and chest. I’ve been waiting two weeks for my neck biopsy which was today but unfortunately when they did the ultrasound they said it was too close to my carotid artery and couldn’t do the biopsy.
However, the doctor said it was small about 0.5cm-1cm is that good? Also he mentioned it was an active lymph node, what does that mean?
any tips on how to deal with the anxiety while waiting as I will probably be put on the 2 week referral now for chest biopsy instead. Thanks
Hi again fifitrixybelle , based on this information this sounds like some good news….. but not an answer.
My biopsy was near the carotid artery so it had to be done under a general anaesthetic…… but my mass was the size of a brick.
I have ‘re-active’ lymph-nodes in my neck so they react to infections etc and nothing to do with my Lymphoma…… our lymph-nodes are designed to be reactive.
As you already know I have been on my journey with my 2 types of Lymphoma for over 25 years and I have relapsed many times…… but to be totally honest and this will sound very simplistic, some would even say naive..... the one important thing I learned very early on in my 25+ years living and being treated for my cancer was that I could throw ALL the worry and stress I could collect in the world at each situation and all this effort would actually make no difference what’s so ever to what I am told and what may happen in the future....... but will have a big effect on how I will mentally deal with it ‘if’ it comes along. park the stress, worry when you actually have something concrete to worry about and look to do things that you enjoy to take your mind off this until you get your next appointment ((hugs))
If you’re not doing already then I can’t recommend over the counter things like Kalms if you’re having real panics - they take the edge off for a good few hours and help you get your head straight…
Keeping fingers and toes crossed for you that it’s a false alarm.
