Hi everyone
I am recovering from a full hysterectomy, having been diagnosed with stage 1 grade 2 endometrial cancer.
I've had a phone call to say the tumour has tested as MMR deficient.
can anyone explain this? Is this linked to Lynch Syndrome?
i have now got to undergo genetic testing to establish what’s what, but having had a stressful few months I am chomping at the bit. It will probably be a few months before I get any results of this testing
should I be worried?
Xx
Hi. I have Lynch Syndrome. It means you have a higher risk of various cancers. It also means your kids have a 50%chance of having LS.
It does not mean you will definitely get cancer just higher risk. The good news is that you will have regularly screening and any cancers caught early.
If you have LS they will test your parents next then any siblings. Eventually kids will be tested aged 18+.
Any questions you have feel free to ask.
I am a founder member of Lynch Syndrome UK. We have a closed Facebook page with 2000 members. We also hold an annual conference with knowledgeable speakers.
