NG tube question

Hi all

Can having NG tube make you feel poorly?

I don't think it can however I'm now in week 4 of having it and I feel like having flu (but no fever) : aches, tummy upset, no energy and feeling off really.

I was checked over in hospital and the only thing that was wrong with me was dehydration.

But I didn't ask the above question unfortunately.

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

  • Did not have an NG...had a PEG... but we were open to all sorts of things physically and mentally... our immune system was all over the place...so yes we could be quite poorly quite often.

  • I would say 1 litre a day but I was never a big drinker, that's a norm for me

  • I was told to have three litres in addition to the Fortisips. Much more than I normally would. You’re around a couple of weeks out of treatment aren’t you?

  • Finished radiotherapy 2.5 weeks ago and have the tube for around 4 weeks now. Didn't have any problems with it until today.

  • Not a worry... just goes with the territory unfortunately...we can deal with it...our oncology teams and GPs are tremendous... don't suffer in silence... keep at them.

  • You’re at the peak of your treatment and the effects of the radiation. two weeks after I finished was the worst I had ever felt. Plenty of rest and fluids.
