Hi, my treatment for tonsil/lymph node cancer finished 12th May 2023. I was receiving regular checkups up until 12th May 2025 but since then I haven’t been called (9 months ago) Is this usual, as I thought you received checkups for 5 years?

  • I thought you received checkups for 5 years?

You should do. What treatment did you have and when was your last scan?
A call to your CNS seems in order.

  • PS

I've just checked your past posts. It looks like you had a PET deliver NED after six weeks CRT. ( it would be useful if you put a brief history down in your profile)

Not being seen after two years is not normal so I’ll repeat. Phone your hospital.

  • I had 30 radiotherapy & 6 chemo. Had a scan about September 2023 that showed no sign of disease. I suppose I’m just a bit nervy as my sister has just been told she has lung cancer & it brought it all back and I thought shouldn’t they be keeping an eye on me still? X

  • Sorry to confuse. No I was being seen regularly for first 2 years post treatment but haven’t had any follow up for 9 months now. I’m in NI so I know things are done a little differently than in Uk. I think I’ll give them a ring and chase up. Thanks.

  • You should definitely have regular check-ups still even if they are not as regular as at the beginning. I finished my radiotherapy in October 2022 and I am seeing my ENT every 4 months. I would definitely call the hospital to get back on track with your appointments.

Let us know how you get on.
