Hello
I am 14 months post CRT trearment for tonsil cancer. My thyroid now is now underactive and I have been put on Levothyroxine. I'm not sure if anyone else has found this, but since taking this (25mcg) my mouth feels awful, sticky thicker saliva and my mouth dryer then usual in the most horrible way. In fact feeling generally very unwell. Has anyone else experienced this on this medication.
Thank you
Angela
I am on 100mcg at the moment. Built up from 25mcg as the thyroid seems to slowly deteriorate over time once it starts going. I've not noticed the side effects you mention from the levothyroxine, but do have similar symptoms from surgery years ago and then CRT 2 years ago. I do find that my mouth changes over time so maybe yours is more related to treatment rather that the levothyroxine?? Best discuss with the GP who probably is responsible for that aspect of your care at the moment just to be sure.
Hi Angela. Like Peter I am also on Levothyroxine and have been from my mid 40's. My dosage is 75mg. I have never had the side effects that you mention and have never felt unwell from it. I do have dry mouth and thicker sticky saliva from the radiotherapy treatment. Best to check with your G.P. to see if the medication could be the cause or if it is related to the radiotherapy.
